Its the COVERRRR !!!!!

My first long post…

Today is my last final examination for this semester, ..eventhough I stil have some plenty things to do for my lecturer, but the biggest burden has relieved…Very glad about it..

After finishing exam, I directly gone to Gramedia. Suddenly I want to paint this day. Yes I’m not miss typed,..painting, alias melukis…:roll:

I want to buy some particular good painting brush though.

Oke, oke, you guys can laugh as loud as you can but remember this innocent guy from humble neighborhood may turn into world famous painter..named it : Picasso, Van gogh, rembrandt, da vinci, bla bla bla. . .mabok mode : on

Anyway, this is my first trip to Gramedia since, I dont know..because I always gone to Toko Buku Manyar or Uranus or fotokopi daerah gebang-keputih (for cheaper price of course). Before I browse my brush, I’m gone to the second floor, where they put their book collection. .whoooaaa. . .not so much different layout from my last visit.

Book over here, book over there..”ya iyalah nggik toko buku gitu. .”

Tiba-tiba Adrenalin meningkat pesat, darah mengalir deras ke otak menimbulkan sensasi khas tersendiri. Uhm, Well ..literally I’m not seeing Vena Melinda live with her alienated outfit or witnessing Julia Perez VS Sarah Azhari wrestling in bikini, but it is a 50% Discount sign..Ahgyahaaaa

But of course, the discounted books were all lame. . .like always..

Lookie lookie, look what I’ve found in Bookstore :

Yeah..yeah..yeah..I dunno I’m just not into Raditya Dika, I never like his books. It looks so ABG alias Anak Baru Gede,…cheerfull (my polite way to say norak), tipis, model-model teenlit murahan. Sorry Raditya Dika, if you want me to buy your books, maybe you need to repacakage or redesign your books. Make it more sophisticated, or elegant, or anything, make it THICK, change the cover make it good!…Because definetely I JUDGE THE BOOKS FROM ITS COVER! Maybe you have a great writings..but theres something wrong with your books, presentation really does matter..

Talking about thickness, as far as I know, most of sucessfull books came with thickness.. Rowling with her Harry Potter, Tolkien with his LOTR and Dan Brown with his series and I dunno ,… no offense, just my two cents.

Okey, enough about mr kambing jantan, now lets move to another trend. .

Culinary Experiences Books!

Lagi happening kali yaa, wisata wisata kuliner ala Pak Bondan gitu, they are putting a list plus an adress of culinary spot! They have list of mainly big cities, . . Jakarta’s, Bandung’s and of course Surabaya’s. And you know what, some of them were came from different publisher. I smell a competition here. . . J

Oh, I almost forgot, in the Surabaya’s version, warung resto turun temurun owned by my friend, bang Hafidz (RAWON NGULING) was on the list!

Wonder if he pays HUGE amount of money for that Implisit-Eksplisit promotion..haaahh, Just Kiddin Fidz!

But, trust me Rawon Nguling desereves it. Despite I always get it for free, to be honest, this is the best rawon in town!..their competitor, Rawon Setan was on the list as well. Anyway I dont like rawon setan, because I think its more like an Empal kuah rather than rawon (they got a HUGE slice of meat, Auuwwhh!)

Hanging out around in Gramedia, going over here going over there, smiling over here smiling over there, My eyes were catch an incredible Piece!! Outrageous, georgeous, terrific!!!. . .

Ladies and Gents, here I present :

Atlas Dunia, brought to Indonesia by penerbit Erlangga…it was an AWWEEEESSOME piece. With an aprox 6 cm thickness and elegant-luxury-intelligent hard cover. Eventough it was sealed and I cant take a sneak peak, but I’m sure that it would be a great-complete content maps they got inside. I’m drolling to buy this treasure…PERFCT Atlas!!! only, it was one million rupiahs…maybe I should selling myself on the street before I can get that atlas :’(

Anyone wanna buy me?

Finally, I’m goin to the best seller section, and number one best selling was : ‘Laskar Pelangi’ by Andrea Hirata. Oke, oke calm down, I Know this books is not that new, and seems like I am a native caveman for not reading this book since its first occurance. As the matter of fact, I’m typical yang angin-anginan baca novel (you know what bahkan Ayat Ayat Cinta Pun, I HAVENT READ IT!)…and I was seducted by the sentence stated on its cover : Indonesia’s Most Powerfull Book, Buku Terlaris Dalam Sejarah Sastra Indonesia.

See see Raditya Dika, you see…Andrea Hirata was success in making me bought his book only by Its cover! I never read anything about this book, I dont know what this book is about either,.. is it about food combining or how to make a charming little garden inside your house, bagaimana cara bercocok tanam yang baik, or anything,.. I HAVE NO IDEA!!… Maybe its not me myself, but i’m sure that another millions people outthere will be intrigued by Laskar Pelangi’s cover,its the cover, ITS THE COVEEERRRR!!!!

Andrea Hirata must be doing magic for his book, jampi-jampi, susuk (is it possible to put susuk in a books?)..whatever it is, eventually I bought all of his series..3 books : Laskar Pelangi, Sang Pemimpi and Edensor.

Impulsive buying??? Maybe….Welcome to my world! J
